Hello....can anyone who was recently hired tell me about this written exam you have to take and pass at the Cleveland Clinic?

It's a PBDS, there's 4 parts. The first two are your responses to statements or prioritizing situations, the last two are videos that you watch and you have to type your assessment & rationale, what you report to the physician/collaborate &rationale, and your nursing interventions & rationale. If I remember correctly there's 10-15 videos. You also have a math and EKG test. The math is the most basic medication math ever.

The previous poster described it pretty accurately. I took it 4 years ago when I started. Most people have to retake the PBDS at the end of their orientation to show their improvement. I thought it was difficult, I had a year and a half experience going in. Good luck!

Suggest googling pbds exam. Depending on which unit you're going on (critical care, med surg, ob, peds) there are many websites that will give you general topics. I suggest reviewing them. I did before the exam and did really well, I was one of the very few that did not have to retake the exam. Most people had to retake the exam though - basically they want to see improvement.
Hmmm, I will have to try that.
