Hi everyone,
I am a mom of three pursuing nursing; my second degree. I recently read that some of the Bay Area schools require that you have taken a total of 9 units in one semester, in the last two years. I was always a full time student before kids, but I haven't done this yet with this degree. Life is a little hectic because my kids are very young. Once I am ready for nursing school they will be that much older. Anyway I am already registered for 7 units; so I am looking for a filler type of class that will satisfy this requirement. I expect Chemistry to be really challenging for me, so I don't want to take something else that is super time consuming. Plus, I have fufilled most of my GE requirements, because of my 1st degree. Also I live in the SF Bay Area and am attending Merritt and DVC. Thanks!
Thank you for reading. I realize my post is a bit "involved", but I am new to the forum and appreciate the advice.
Thanks!

Have you already completed the remaining prereqs other than Chem? Other classes I highly recommend as possible "filler":
- Medical terminology
- Health education
- Nutrition
- Child development
- Lifespan psych
- Abnormal psych
The workload is very manageable. The only reason why I suggest the aforementioned classes is because they're applicable to nursing and the content is something you'll be reacquainted to again when you're in the nursing program.
Good luck in your nursing endeavors! :)
That you Elle..I have taken all of those except for medical terminology. It sounds interesting and would probably be helpful( for understanding in other classes:), but it would probably be too much of an undertaking with what I'm already taking and having 3 kids. I really appreciate your reply. Thanks!

Any psych class would fill the bill.

In addition to what has already been mentioned: Interpersonal Communication, Introduction to Sociology or Cultural Anthropology. Not sure if those are requirements for your school. I recently completed my second degree too and those were requirements for me.

I would verify with a counselor or your financial aid that you are even required to fulfill this 9 unit requirement.

Foothill College in Los Altos has a Chemistry Survey Class series (Chem 30A&B) for pre-health majors which keeps you out of the mainstream chem major track. It wasn't too hard. Also, for any of the soft-skill classes (communications, psych, sociology, etc) I would recommend Barstow College. They are a California community college located near the Barstow Marine Base, and offer a great selection of online courses at bargain prices (about $20 a unit).
Cheers, :)
