Civilian New Grad RN wants to work in Military Hospital

Hey there guys. I am a military wife who wants to work as a RN in a military hospital. I graduated nursing school in December 2008. I passed my NCLEX in March 2009. I applied for nursing assistant, practical nurse and registered nurse positions via USAjobs.gov. I had an interview in June and 2 weeks later was offered a job as a New Grad RN. According to the Nurse Manager, she told me that after I turn in my final application/hiring packet, it could take 1 month for the paperwork to process. I have heard that it take weeks to months (2 months or more).

Are there any other civilian RN who has had this experience? Why does it take so long?

Also I was wondering if I start at a Military hospital and my husband transfer to another duty station, will it be easier for me to transfer to another military hospital?

Thanks for the feedback!
