Do you guys get Christmas gifts or the end of the semester gifts?? If so, do you send thank you cards??

Yes I did receive a gift from my students, but that is a custom that has been in place since I went to school with our instructors. A gift from your clinical group or students should always be acknowledged - I don't think it is unacceptable to do a thank you email, but a quick handwritten note would probably mean more. Hope this helps.

This will be my first Christmas as a clinical instructor. As an instructor, do you do anything for the students?

I send my students an electronic thank you card (very exquisite - from Jacquie Lawson.com) for any gifts. The students are too spread out at the end of the semester for me to send each one a hard copy thank you card. E-cards are much more practical.
As for end-of-semester gifts for the students - chocolates or candy canes. Often I give out allnurses pens, lanyards, or calculators! This is always a hit with the students :)
I give my students small gifts such as a travel coffee mug or a change purse. Not all clinical instructors give gifts, but I like to acknowledge my students for their work. It doesn't have to be expensive and I always keep the items exactly the same across the board. Hope this helps.
