Hi fellow nurses! I am Sherry and I applied to the CHOC fellowship for multi specialty area recently & was just wondering if anyone else has applied for it too? i graduated in May 2017 so technically I’m not considered a new grad, but I’ve never actually worked in an acute care as a RN, only outpatient. so technically I’m a stale new grad? it’s super difficult to make it in the hospital w/o acute care experience, so I decided to apply to the fellowship! wondering if anyone is on the same boat?

Graduated at the same time and I've worked outpatient only, though I am a PACU nurse so I have critical care experience but no acute care-- go figure!! Don't consider yourself a new grad though-- you do have experience, just different experience! I talked to someone in HR and she did say that in our circumstances, fellowship is the way to go. I went for broke and applied for the CVICU.

Nov 11 by GrenIedGal, BSN, RN 200 Posts; 4,486 Profile Views Hi! Good luck with the fellowship! Sounds like you'll both bring great experience. I applied for the residency. Graduated in February, licensed in March, been waiting and hoping for a peds position! (Or I'll be applying as a fellow in the future like you guys. ) Figured other resident applicants would reply here and I think we're all together (or at least the cohorts run concurrent.)
