I decided to create this thread for anyone applying to Children's Medical Center of Dallas for the July 2016 Nurse Residency Program! Good luck to everyone! If there are any current or past residents that would like to offer any advice, please feel free to do so!!!!! Good luck to everyone applying!
I currently work there in there, though I have chosen not to pursue my nursing career at childrens. I can tell you the CVICU is very very nice. It is the best of all three. These are the best nurses and the actual physical set up is the newest. The CV operating room, the CV MRI, is on the same floor which is very convenient and safe for the CVICU nurses and the OR. It is the BEST ICU to work in at childrens. Also, it is staffed unlike the Trauma and PICU. If you get a job in the CVICU, you will be treated like a superstar.

What do you mean it's "staffed"? Like with CNAs or techs? Understaffed? I just interviewed for the PICU and Trauma and asked about staffing and she said she has never had issues with understaffing.
Well, let me clarify. I don't want to say anything bad about the PICUs because they are AMAZING! The CVICU (to me) just seems to always be staffed with happy nurses. PICU often has more travelers and they were in fact very short staffed this past summer. That doesn't make it bad or anything. PICU has a higher census so they are always needing people. CV is more steady. Both are great.... I just think the CVICU is a better place to work.
has anyone received another offered and have tried to reach out to HR to notify them and see if they could get a quicker response from Children's so that you could make your decision? I reached out to HR and am hoping she'll get back to me Monday, but just wondering if anyone else had to do that also and if she was able to let you know any sooner
I haven't asked that particular question. During my interview, the managers explained that the recruiter may be letting people know around March 23 but most likely by the 28th. It seems like a few pieces of this process differed from the given information on the website, so maybe we will hear sometime during the week of March 21.

Just had my Skype interview! Only 3 behavioral questions and the rest were talking about the unit and my own questions. Total of about 25 minutes. About 2 hours later the recruiter sent me an email asking me to rank the units I interviewed for, so I chose Trauma ICU first and PICU second :-). I think that's a good sign! Good luck everyone!!
