Hello my name is Janee` I am aspiring to become a Pediatric Nurse. Is the hand on experience better at a Children's Hospital or at a Private Pediatric Practice ? What are some of your opinions ?

Definitely go for the Children's Hospital experience. If you can handle the worst with kids, then pediatrician office work will be a breeze if you decide you don't like the hospital setting.
It's not so easy the other way around. You'd pretty much have to start all over trying to go from peds office to children's hospital...

I have worked in a pediatric hospital for nearly 5 years. I am looking to get out and into a school or a pediatric practice. I agree with the previous poster, because of my experience working with very complicated children in an inpatient setting, I'm a good candidate for any of these positions. The other way around it would be more difficult.
I think it's a good idea to work in a hospital at the beginning to develop your skills.

Agree with the above, you will be able to see and do much more in a pediatric hospital. Good luck!
Thank you for your advice, it really helped

I agree hospital first then private practice experience wise. But there is a pretty good pay cut going from hospital to private practice depending on the organization so that is something to think about too.
