Hi there! I will be moving to Chicago from Minneapolis and need help getting a feel for the market as I have no nurse connects there. I have 2 years of trauma step-down experience and 2.5 years of labor and delivery experience. I have an offer for a Chicago NICU at $33.75/hr and am still waiting to hear back from the other hospital that I interviewed with. I currently make $15,000/yr more than $33.75/hr as a result of the strong nurses union in Minneapolis, but I totally get that I should expect a significant pay cut working in Chicago, but I just don't know how much to expect. I want a competitive wage for the area, but I don't know what competitive is. Is $33.75 reasonable for an RN with 4.5 years of experience or should I hold out for other offers? Thanks for your help!!

I interviewed for a position there, and that sounds about right. About 25-35% pay cut, but about 10% increase in cost of living. Is this something that's set in stone?
