We are going to be having our test on the last 4 chapters on friday. We spent 2 days on nomenclature, 2+ days on Moles and Molar Mass problems. Today, the last class before the test, we looked at stoichiometry problems for the first time and there will be some on the test. I am doing well in the class, and get it pretty easily. The stoichiometry was by far the hardest thing that we have done so far.
We were about 3/4 of the way through the class and we were finally working our first example, a relatively easy one. Up to this point she was going over all of the chapter leading up to the examples. One of the students, who always complains how hard and overwhelming it is, decided to ask if the teacher would reconsider giving us a notecard cheat sheet for the test after the teacher had already said no on Monday. She continued arguing with the professor for nearly 10 minutes, time that we could be doing examples and getting ready for the test. By the time she was done arguing her point that her math teacher lets her and trying to guilt the professor into letting us use one we only had about 5-10 minutes left in class and only got to do 1 involved question.
I was so irritated by this. I know that not everyone gets it, but I feel like she was taking up precious class time, especially since we didn't have much time for this subject to begin with. Our school offers one hour of tutoring per class and they are very flexible with scheduling and our professor will work with students outside of class if they can find a time that is good for both of them. My professor is really great and always goes out of her way to help us. I really wanted to say something, but didn't. Anyway, I just needed to vent. I was just reliving it as I was doing my Chem lab report.

I agree...They have tutors. Some teachers will allow the cheat sheet but that is totally up to the instructor. No matter where you decide to go in life there will always be that person who wants to do half the work for the full benefits they make it hard for the over acheivers (like us LOL). The best advice that I can give to you is that you have to stay focused on your goals and plans because there will be an under acheiver no matter where you decide to go.
