Hello! I have been a nurse for a few years and have recently gone from taking whatever I can get to having a few more options to choose from.
I didn't know this until I was looking for a new job and casting a wide net like I did before and all of a sudden having an offer for a nurse manager position (LTC, salaried), nurse supervisor (LTC, hourly), and some direct care offers all at once.
I have had a short working stint in a very busy Med-Surg unit and really wanted out, so I was applying for a lot of jobs at once.
This was about 2.5 months into my insufferable Med-Surg gig. I got the nurse manager offer, and was really flattered, and thought I wanted to accept, but then I thought I had better at least give the Med-surg unit job more of a chance as terrible of a fit as it was for me I just had to know for sure...
So, I ended up working the Med-surg job just 2 more months till I couldn't stand it anymore (I was almost going insane from the chaos, lack of support, and long commute). So I accepted one offer which fell through b/c they insisted I work for them immediately w/o giving my 2wk notice (I don't wanna work for them because of that now), and then I had to rush and get another job lined up ... which is at a nice enough place with nice enough management, but it's only part time(!)
Now I'm wishing I had just accepted the ft nurse manager job, or at least the 2nd shift supervisor job 2 months ago...
I didn't for the reason that I wanted to be sure I was really not wanting the Med-Surg job, and because they gave me all these options to choose from (manager, supervisor, direct pt care all at one place that's expanding) and there was no start date mentioned.
Should I continue with the pt time job and hope I can pick up extra hours? I did accept this job, but haven't started and won't for another week...
I don't want to burn bridges, but I'm worried about money/career.

Are the nurse manager/nurse supervisor positions still open?
It's been two months... they informally offered me whichever job I wanted, but were moving too slow with the hiring process, they were reconfiguring the job description of the nurse manager position, and I got nervous about the uncertainties and declined the offer. At first I said I wanted the job, but would need more details and a written offer which they couldn't give at the time. So, I really don't know if the job is still available. I'm wondering if I should even ask about it... maybe what I did left a bad impression. She who hesitates is lost.
I have worked for this ECF/SNF that I have the current offer at long ago, as an aide, and the hiring manager still remembered me. She Only had a 16hr/wk position, somehow found a way to make it 24hr/wk... and I could always pick up more hours. I appreciate her doing that, and accepted, but it won't be enough $$ if I don't get extra hours. I feel like this could turn into something more, so I don't want to burn the bridge. Also, the unit manager seemed really nice.
Unfortunately, I can't afford to go a month without working while I figure this whole thing out and 24hr/wk is better than nothing...

You don't have anything to lose by reaching out to them. If they were moving slowly with the recruitment process, it's possible the position is still available. However wanting you to leave a current position without the appropriate notice is a red flag IMO.

I think you should email them and say "my situation has changed and I am wondering if this position is still open, blah blah etc."
I did email the don and the opportunity is now gone.
