I have been giving serious thought to trying OB nursing. After 24 years of some med surg, LTC and management positions, this would be completely foreign to me. My only experience in this area was clinicals--so long ago! I went for an interview today. It was a very positive interview. I will have 3 months of intense training, which I am grateful for. The director told me not to expect to be comfortable for at least 2-3 years. There were so many OB terms brought up that my head was spinnning. I only vaguely remembered hearing the terms in school. I guess my question is this: What would be the best way to bring myself up to speed--to at least understand the terminology of such a unit. Any particular reference books better than another??? Any help and advice will be GREATLY appreciated!

You could grab an OB textbook and review the info that way.....or get some NCLEX review books and do the same. GOOD LUCK!
