Champaign Urbana area hospitals

I will be relocating to the Champaign area and of course need a job. I have interviews at both Carle Foundation Hospital and Provena. Any insight on either hospital would be appreciated. Thanks.

Carle is a much bigger facility and is the trauma center for the area so higher acuity patients will be seen there than at Provena. Carle also has the Airlife transport team, which Provena doesn't. Depending on what you want to do, I highly recommend Carle over Provena. Carle is continuing to expand for more room which is not something Provena is able to do. I spent 7 years there and loved every minute of it.

I agree with NICUmom. Carle tends to be a better environment, overall. Provena is just...kinda stuffy, for lack of a better sense. Just visiting people that are patients there makes me queasy.

I'm probably biased, as I was a Carle patient from the time I was born until my teen years when my parents insurance changed and we had to go to Christie/Provena, but I prefer Carle.

Carle evokes a more up-to-date atmosphere and as a patient, that just makes me feel safer (even if it doesn't make sense). My mother had surgery (hip replacement) at Provena this summer and the care left something to be desired (we had to ask for ted hose/anti-coag therapy/she didn't get 1 bath and was there from Mon-Thurs).

As a clinical student from Parkland, I haven't yet experienced Provena, but from what I've seen at Carle and what I've heard about Provena, Carle seems to be the better choice.
