Chamberlain FNP Program February 2016 acceptance

Published

I have been accepted into the FNP program at Chamberlain and am looking for some insight into the program. What are the classes like? What books do you need? Anyone willing to send the syllabus for the first so I can get an idea of what is coming?

So excited!!!!!!

Hey,

Just started the FNP program in Sept. and doubling up on classes this spring semester. I can tell you the foundations course is not too bad, and is mostly a review of the program and what you have learned thru your BSN program. You only need your APA book for the first class. The assignments were not bad at all, I think they just make you take that class by itself to get use to being back in school. Advance Nursing theory requires more work, and has two books, but I think doable with another class. I am taking informatics and healthcare policy in Jan and Advanced Research methods and Epidemiology, health populations, and statistic principles in March. After that I think they only let you do one class at a time. If anyone lives in Jacksonville, FL would love to meet up or stay in contact. Hope that helps.

@nightnurse08..

Question, are you working full time? Do you think this is doable even with doubling classes?

Also, do you know if the professors support Macs? Seems like everyone has macs now but just want to know if I need to buy word. (Although unthinking here is a way to save your documents as word doc on a Mac even without word program )

Hey Nightnurse08,

I currently live in Jacksonville and I am currently in the application phase for chamberlain's FNP program. What side of town do you live in? I live on the Southside of town.

1. How long did it take to receive notification of acceptance?

2. How was your experience with their financial aid advisors?

3. What advice would you give to new students who are entering the program? What were some of the pitfalls of the program

4. Did you have a hard time finding preceptors?

5. Do you have any insight about the weekend intensive requirement?

6. Do you know of any graduates who've passed their boards?

I know that I have a lot of questions, if you can answer more questions, I would really appreciate it. You can PM me or better yet, you can contact me at [email protected].

Thank you in advance for your time.

gmjohnson6,

I do work full time hours. I am hoping it is doable :) The one class at a time gives me plenty of time to accomplish other stuff. I think I will be busier and maybe less time for other things, but I do believe it is doable. As far as the Mac issue, I would think so, but can not say for sure. I am a PC and droid gal.

Hey feather.brown I am also in the application phase, just waiting on them to review my transcripts, my start date is supposed to be Feb 2016. I also live in Jacksonville on the Southside of town.

Hey guys!

Congrats on taking the first step to an advanced degree! I started the program 7/7/2014. I am starting NR 602 in January and will have my official last day of school in June. I worked (and still continue to work) full time through out the duration of the program. I started the program on 7/7, and found out I was pregnant on 7/14. Still, I worked full time night shift (3 12s, 7p - 7a) and doubled classes. It takes A LOT OF DEDICATION AND TIME MANAGEMENT. You also NEED a good support system. If it were my choice, I would definitely work part time, but this is not an option as I am the sole breadwinner and carry the insurance. It is doable, but tough. Papers to write EVERY WEEK on top of discussion threads (if you double).

Hello FutureRNMom,

My start date is set for May 2016, and I am excited, nervous and ready. I spoke with my advisor before Christmas, and was informed that I should find out if I was accepted before or after the new year. Feel free to PM me if you want to keep intouch. :)
