It's one big project stretched across a few weeks. In Week 1 we picked a patient-centered problem that became the root of our course project. Week 2 was the course project intro, Week 3 the course project PICO, Week 4 (I'm in it now) is the course project literature review, and Week 5 will be the design for change in practice, and Week 6 is a summary/synthesis of all the parts. Week 7 will be a PowerPoint presentation outlining our course project, and we also have to critique another student's presentation. Plus the weekly discussions, of course.

Isn't the capstone one big project? I wasn't too worried about taking it with Econ next session but maybe I should be.
What Lunah describes sounds doable to me, guess I am just nervous because if my last experience with statistics. I am more interested in finishing in December. 8 weeks of hard work will not kill me

Olivia. I had a hard time with stats too and took it with a nursing course. We can do it. Just 8 weeks. I think the capstone will be easy... it's a great chance to "See a need fill a need".

Hi Everyone! I'm need of a little help. Right now I am in NUR 351 Transition to Professional Nursing and I'm starting to write my professional paper. The topic I chose is about chronic illnesses and using Miller's Power Resources. I'm not having any luck finding much information on Miller's Power Resources. Maybe I'm over thinking all of this a little bit, but I am can't find anything on EBSCO host and I've googled it also. Any one have any advice or where else I should look? Thanks!

Have you checked the online library? Or medline? I took that course in Sept 2008--the first one I took at Chamberlain. I, too, wrote about Miller's Power Resources. For the life of me, I can't remember what I did about that paper--hold on, I've got a copy here--I found it, let's all hear it for packrats and large hard drives. Here's the book I used:
Miller, J.F., RN, PhD., & FAAN. (2000). Coping with Chronic Illness: Overcoming Powerlessness (3rd ed., pp. 5-15). Philadelphia: F.A. Davis Company.
    Hope this helps.

Thank you so much. There is HOPE!! Did you just find this at a library then? Chamberlain has it but driving two hours to columbus to get it definitely isn't ideal. Any suggestions on where to get it? Thanks all of your help already!

Did you check the Chamberlain on line library? I think that's where I found it. There's a way to contact the on line librarian if you're having trouble finding the book. When is the paper due? Since it's the weekend, I'm not sure if the librarians are around.

I haven't been able to find it on the online library. The paper isn't due for another two weeks, so I'm good. I wanted to get the rough draft in by Tuesday, but not a big deal if it doesn't get done. They have online help tomorrow morning, I'll try and make that for additional help. Thanks so much!

This morning, I was clearing out my old (back to when I started in 2008) emails from Chamberlain. I found a .pdf file of several pages from Miller's book. I can email them to you if you want.

Hi all. I am interested in the RN-BSN at Chamberlain and I contacted the adviser. I mean I AM interested and want to start but he/she is soooo pushy!!! She/He keeps calling me telling me I need put in my transcript requests, financial aid stuff immediately otherwise they will think am not ready. I know they get paid for recruiting more people, and the program sounds fantastic (except for the price), but they are really making me question if that's where I want to go. I do not like a sales person calling me several times a day to make sure am still interested and implying that if I dont do something NOW!!! I will not get help.
    Sorry,,,just wanted to vent.
now back to filling out those transcript request forms and FAFSA.
Does anyone know when the next session starts and if its possible to get into that session if you starting from scratch now?

The next session starts on 7/5/10. I'd say you might be able to get everything ready by then, if your transcripts are readily available. Good luck! I started the program in Sept 2008. I only take 1 course at a time. Getting ready to graduate Oct. 2010.

I know exactly how you feel. I had the same experience with an over-zealous advisor and that is why I have put off enrolling with them. I am leaning more toward the in-class route at a local university. I took my critical care course online and I didn't do as well as I think I should have.
