Chamberlain Atlanta Summer 2018

Nursing Students Chamberlain College

Published

Greetings All!

I recently applied to Chamberlain, and took my HESI exam today, granted I had only one week to study. Currently awaiting my official results. I got a 77% overall, due to my mishap in the bio section. However, I received over 90% in every english section, and the proctor said they look at english and science. I am so excited right now to imagine the possibility that this may be it, I got in!! My GPA from transfer credits/degrees is a 4.0, so I'm hoping this gives me an edge and shows my willingness to work hard! I see that many people have high scores from the HESI on here, but I am optimistic that I still have a chance!!

Is anyone else hoping to get in for this session? If so, I wanted to reach out and connect! I will be back to update when I found out if I got accepted or not...

Be blessed!

I'm confused what test did you take?

Hi!

We are not yet taking classes... I start on May. The Hesi test is to what we're referring. It is a requirement in order to be accepted to the pre licensure BSN program. We are not yet RNs so we're required to take that test. í ½í¸Š

Make sense?

Also, thank you for the heads up on some of the workload! I'm happy for you, I wish you the best in graduating soon!!!!

The Hesi exam basically is a joke.... it is meant to score you on how well you will pass your NCLEX. Passing your NCLEX on the first time (which I did so I can make this comment) just makes the school you graduated from look better. My suggestion for your NCLEX is take your time and thoroughly read the questions. The questions are about a paragraph long so make sure you understand what they are asking before you answer. Also, you must remember they are just checking the minimal nursing knowledge to make sure that you are safe to practice as a nurse. Passing the test doesn't mean that you are a genius nurse it just means that you hopefully wont kill anyone if you are caring for a patient. Being a nurse is about training and experience!!! Point blank!!! When you graduate listen to your preceptor and don't think that you know better than she. I have almost completed my BSN and have been a nurse for over a decade and my rule of thumb is that EACH AND ALL nurses are the exact same!!! A nurse is a nurse! From a LPN to a MSN ..... A nurse is a nurse. We all do the same job caring for populations of persons who need our expertise. I can guarantee you that you will find nurses and other professionals (techs, CNA, supportive staff) in your practice of all varying degrees that is going to teach you something. Over my 20+ years working in the medical field I have worked with many LPNs who are more knowledgeable of patient care than RN's. My point is the title behind your name wont make you any better of a nurse, it is how you practice as a nurse that will make you awesome.

Good luck and many blessings on passing the test because we need awesome nurses.

Thank you for your advice. ☺ My mom said the same about titles. (I have a family of nurses, from LPNs to nurse practitioners). I agree, getting your license is what's important! I'm ready to work my butt off in this program!! I don't mind receiving constructive criticism because I want to know and learn as much as I can. It's all about high quality patient care, and that will mean I humble myself and learn from experienced nurses. That's my attitude about it, and I don't plan on it changing.

Again, thanks for taking the time and giving me great advice. I won't forget it. í ½í¸ƒ

Hello! I was just accepted for the summer May 2018 start!!! Was wondering if our cohort had a fb?

Hello! I was just accepted for the summer May 2018 start!!! Was wondering if our cohort had a fb?

Hi there! I was so excited when I saw that you posted because you're the first to share that you're starting in May as well! I don't believe there is a FB yet seeing as it's just the two of us so far, haha. If you want to create one, that's fine with me. Just let me know how to join! :-)

I'm attending orientation next Wednesday. What day are you going?

Big Congrats on your acceptance!!!

Hey!!!! I have orientation on Thursday!!! Hopefully somebody has one... when is your estimated graduation date?

Yeah maybe! November 2020 is my estimated grad date. What about you?

I got into Chamberlain with a 77% HESI score and a 3.1 gpa.

Yaaaa! Big Congrats.

Congrats! You're a few months ahead of me.

Awesome! I called a few days ago and they told me to wait until mid-May to submit my application because they're currently focusing on the summer semester class.
