It will be up to NY to make the final decision in this. Have you applied to NY for licensure yet?
And not sure where you are planning to work, but just so that you are aware that there have been no hospitals petitioning for foreign nurses for more than two years. Even foreign nurses that attend nursing school in NY have issues getting petitioned from there. You are only going to find work with the nursing home there and that means 30 patients plus that you will be legally responsible for.

Hi there! i understand ur situation. That sort of happend to me. I am 2006 BSN graduate in the Phils. and also applying for NY. I'm finish with the credential verification in CGFNS.Now it's in NY,I should have my ATT by now but due to the June 2006 local boards thet wanted to verify if I took the exam or not. That's why it's long. So I have a relative in the Phils. request a letter from PRC to send here to NY stating that I did not take the exam.
MAybe the CGFNS assumed that ur school didn't recieve the documents & are tired of re-sending it. I suggest u talk to the CGFNS & ask for advice for better info.and talk to ur school again and alert them that a letter from CGFNS will arrive. And tell CGFNS too that u'll tallk to ur school.
Then when ur school recieves the letter from CGFNS & when they're ready to mail it,have ur school mail it to CGFNS by LBC/Fed-ex so it will be faster to arrive in CGFNS. That's what I did. I had a friend mail it for me in the Phils because I paid for the LBC since the school of course won't pay for that. But make sure on the envelope when u send it by LBC,it says from ur school and not from the person who sent it like u because CGFNS wants the enveloped letter directly from the school.
Hope this will help u out. Ingatz!
the problem is that my school is not receiving any. i already called CG and my paper is already ready for submission since my school is not replying... hay!!! i am in such a mess!!!!
Are you truly planning to work in NY and are aware that you will not get hired for a hospital there? You may wish to rethink your plan.
Also be aware that four months is the earliest that anyone ever gets thru the CVS process, average wait time is 8 months, and I have just seen a couple completed after two years. Unless your goal is to work in a nursing home there, you may wish to consider other states for licensure. There are no hospitals there that are petitioning graduates of foreign programs, and even the foreign nurses that graduated in NY are having problems finding a facility.
NCLEX is also just one step in the licensing process, you are applying for licensure to a state BON, not applying for the NCLEX exam, that is impossible to do.

I wonder when will the problems of the CVS service be solved and prevented...Supposedly, it 's a "no-hassle" service because of the "handsfree" process. However, from the various complaints being reported here in the forum, it seems like is a major headache for NY BON exam applicants.
I thought the expenses for the CVS already covers mailing of the reply from the school and license authority(if applicable) as stated in their 2007(and the previous ones too) CVS handbook? Hmmm, something must be wrong...
really....i don't know of that....maybe they would pay for regular mail & not special mail like LB coz it cost like 1,200 pesos. That's what my other friends did too. You know the schools there like to save money.hehe... But it's ok anyways,as long as they were able to mail it here.
I'm not sure about that either, but anyway, supposedly, no other fees(check the cvs handbook for this) will be incurred by the applicant after the complete payment of the CVS fee(with the $50 "processing fee"), as the service is supposedly "untouchable" / "hands-off" for the applicant:cool:

Hi dettedette!
I'm very sorry to hear about your issues with the CGFNS. I know how you feel... I have a BSN from a foreign country (Belgium) and I am trying to get my license here like you. I applied to the CGFNS on April 2006 and I had the same problem: my school never received any letter requesting my transcripts. Last November, I decided to request my transcript myself and just asked my school to send them directly to the commission. The commission has my papers since January but since then nothing, no update, no evolution. I know my transcripts need to be translated and when I called them to get more info on this issue, they told me to wait until they request the fee for the translation. They told me it will cost me $75 per page! I have 8 pages that need to be translated!!! Well, it's April 2007 and I haven't got any request from the commission to translate my doc. I can understand that they have a lot of work but this shouldn't take a year to be finalized.
I read Suzanne advice about applying directly to the BON but apparently all documents have to pass the CGFNS evaluation first. I don't really know what to do at this point. I applied to WES which is an organism specialized in foreign credits evaluation. At this point, I'm thinking of going back to nursing school here in NY, just start everything all over.
Well, I hope you'll get some good news very soon and that you'll start a great nursing carrier in this beautiful state of NY.
Good luck!
