The Granite State sees the light

    (Associated Press) Concord, NH.
--Governor Jeanne Sheheen said yesterday that she would allow specially trained nurses to administer anesthesia without a doctor's supervision, a policy sought by the states smallest hospitals.
"This assures quality health care, particularly surgical and maternity care, continues to be available in rural communities," said Shaheen spokeswoman Pam Walsh.
Tom Claremont, chairman of the Rural Health Coalition of 16 New Hampshire hospitals, said the decision was critical to allowing rural hospitals to offer surgical care in remote areas.:roll
