Malpractice Insurance cost for SRNA

  1. Hi everyone:
I will starting nurse anesthesia this fall at University of Maryland. First class yeaaaa . I had just received a letter from the university stating that they are implementing a newly required charge for malpractice insurance effective with the fall semester, 2004. This is a front loaded program, not integrated, therefore I think we start clinicals later. They stated that the insurance is similar to that paid by the University's medical students. The estimate yearly premium is from $1,800 to 2,000 for a year's coverage. Is this the same average amount other students are paying?

As an SRNA I am covered by the hospital and the CRNAs/MDAs that I work with, so I do not have to purchase my own insurance. Sorry, I can't be of more help.
