Deciding on becomming a CRNA?

Specialties CRNA

Published

Hello,

My name is Marta (25 years old) and I am considering on becomming a CRNA. I graduated a year ago with an ADN degree, I'm currently in the process of completing my BSN degree. I will be finished with my BSN in June of 2005. I currently work on a telemetry unit and know that to become accepted into CRNA school you need 1-2 years or more experience in critical care/ICU. l know that I need to start thinking ahead because I don't want to wait and end up not furthering my career. Their are 2 schools in IL that I'm considering. The hospital I work for has an ICU, but it's a smaller hospital (not a trauma center). Where would be the best place to start? Does anyone have any advice?

Marta

ps. I'm meeting with an advisor from one of the schools this week, any specific questions that I need to address?

Welcome to Allnurses.com.

At this point, I would definitely try to get a job at major hospital near you, preferably in the CVICU. And work on keeping your grades as high as you can. That is going to be the most important, especially all of your science classes.

Good luck............. :balloons:
