How does a UK nurse/midwife become a CNM in US?

hi every1
how do i become a CNM in the US?? I am UK trained Registered Nurse to Batchelors Degree and am planning to do my Masters in midwifery whilst im still in the UK- i am planning to move to USA in 4/5 years (am looking into California) and want to work as a CNM!!! i cant find anywhere or anyone that will email me back of how/step by step process of becoming a CNM?!?!?

B. Prepared in International Settings

1. Notarized proof of licensure active on the date of the examination as a U.S. Registered Nurse (i.e., in one of the fifty states, the District of Columbia, or U.S. territory).

2. Satisfactory completion of a pre-certification program accredited by or with pre-accreditation status from the ACNM Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME); or, satisfactory completion of a program in nurse-midwifery (or in a master's program, satisfactory completion of all basic theoretical and clinical requirements of the nurse-midwifery component) accredited by or with pre-accreditation status from the ACNM Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME).

3. Verification by the director of the nurse-midwifery program that the candidate has completed the nurse-midwifery portion of the nurse-midwifery program and the date it was completed.

The American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) referenced above is the certifying body for nurse-midwives in the US. The American College of Nurse-Midwives is the professional organization of nurse-midwives. If you haven't tried them already their websites are www.amcbmidwife.org and www.acnm.org ACNM tends to very responsive so try them.

Essentially you have to be a registered nurse with a valid license in any state. You have to complete an MS Nursing with a concentration in Midwifery. You are then eligible to take the certification exam. Lots of hoops to jump through! Good luck.
