you need critical care experience. CCRN certification is done by American Association of Critical-Care Nursing. All the testing requirements are on their website, including sample questions, I believe. American Association of Critical-Care Nurses

Do you have an educator on your unit or in your hospital? we have AACN reference material on our unit. The CCRN's on my unit all say that AACN's study guide is the most accurate. Makes sense since they're the ones giving the test.

Also, have you read their handbook on the test? It answers a lot of questions.

Thanks bisson.. I do have critical care experience for two years in a 200 bed capacity tertiary hospital but its in here in the Philippines. I just dont if the AACN will consider it. Thanks..I'll look into their handbook to dive in the details. Thanks

I work on a cardiac stepdown unit, occasionally float to ICU. I have taken all the introductory courses they give our new ICU RNs (on my own time) and want to take CCRN, because I don't plan on being on PCU for too much longer and feel PCCN would be a waste of my time/money right now. Is it possible, using my training classes, occasional ICU experience and lots of books, to pass? You don't necessarily have to see these pts every day to pass the test, do you, as long as you know the concepts?

you need critical care experience.
Actually, that's a misconception. Per the CCRN handbook, "practice as an RN for 1,750 hours in direct bedside care of acutely and/or critically ill patients"

Now admittedly, trying to pass the test sans actual critical care experience would be challenging, but acute-care experience is sufficient for eligibility.

Hello all,

I am also planning to take the CCRN exam. I just got the Pass CCRN test questions and I'm considering the Laura G DVDs, at 150 though, I'm a little hesitant.

Any advice on other materials?
