Carolinas College of Health Sciences

Published

Hey everyone,

Are there any current or former Carolinas College of Health Sciences students here? I'm a future nursing student there and I would love to hear about your experiences! I saw on the NCBON site that the school has a 95 percent pass rate on the NCLEX, so I'm feeling pretty positively about that. Any insight would be great! Thanks!

Specializes in CCRN, CEN.

Took my Pre-reqs there. It is a good small school, unlike any other school you may have been to before. I got A's in all of my pre req's and transfered to a BSN program instead. The secret to CCHS is they hammer your class until whats left are only those they feel will pass. The A&P taught there is no joke, the best in the state. You just have to absorb and CCHS gives you all of the extra help to make it. Nursing school there according to my buddy that is still there is only doable for him because he took A&P first. My peers in my BSN program are nowhere near as strong in A&P as I am and I contribute that to CCHS.

I am a Mercy Student (a "sister" school to CCHS, since both are under the CHS system), but have taken two classes through CCHS. They definitely graduate more students than us, and I've heard good things about it. I didn't like it personally, due to the large number of students (which made it feel like high school to me), versus the school I attend where we have approx. 120 people TOTAL (in all five semester levels). BUT, if population doesn't bother you, you'll love it! You will have quite a hike to class when you park in the morning, but it's good for exercise (and get an umbrella for the days it rains for the long walk!)

I saw that you attend Mercy and I am starting there in the Fall... Any advice? haha How is it? I am so nervous and would love any feedback!!
