Career holt

Published

Hi guys. I'm in a career holt. I am a registered nurse two graduate in 2009 with an ADN. I didn't pass by NCLEX on the first try and in studying to re take the exam I discovered that I have breast cancer. Have been battling the past four years and am in remission. I have past the NCLEX and have my license And am looking for a job now. I am conflicted with different scenarios of not not having exerperience and graduated five years ago versus nurses who just recently graduated. I am current in an online BSN program but am conflict with just going into a nursing program and re doing the RN program but in a bsn program with clinicals and all? I need help and some guidance in what I shoukd do?? Should I stick it out and wait to hear back from a job or should I go back to school and apply to a nursing program all over again?

If you have passed the NCLEX and are in possession of an RN license, there's no need to repeat nursing school all over again.

What you need to do is to complete a refresher program designed for nurses who have not practiced in a while. Without completing a refresher program, I seriously doubt that you'll ever receive any calls to schedule interviews. Good luck to you!

A refresher program ?? I didn't think that it existed. Is that an online course ?

Many states require a refresher course for nurses who have been inactive for a period of time - commonly 5 years. The actual content of these programs is based upon the requirements of that state, but I have never heard of one that did not include some clinical (hands on) work.

Congratulations on winning the battle to regain your health & wishing you the very best luck on getting your career started.
