Cardiac decompensation sign of a bigger problem?

I'm still in nursing school, but the other day I was reading over my OB lecture notes and I got to the powerpoint slide on cardiac decompensation. My professor only wrote on it can be signaled by a constant dry cough and to contact your doctor (not very helpful). There wasn't much more in my textbook about it.

I was wondering if it could be a sign of an underlying cardiac issue, or if it is simply pregnancy induced and goes away once the pregnancy is over with no further complications. I couldn't find anything about it on Google, and was wondering if any of you could help me with this question that has been bothering me for weeks!

:yeah: Thanks!
