Hello, all!

For my my final semester of nursing school, I have the opportunity to complete my Capstone at a VAMC long term care facility. I was hoping to hear from some seasoned nurses about whether this opportunity would be beneficial — I’m intrigued but afraid of missing out on a more acute care skill set. Any and all thoughts/guidance are welcome and appreciated!

I love long term care and have done it for years, however, I think that a foundation in acute care is ideal, even if you want to work in LTC after graduation.

Personally, I think you most prob can find enough acute care type issues with LTC/NH residents in most facilities.

Wide variety of diagnoses and disabilities, physical, psych, social, etc.

Veteran issues, too.
