Can't find a job!! Should I apply...

to San Quentin Correctional Facility? Is anyone an RN at a correctional facility? If so, how is it? I don't know what to expect. What would I be doing if I work there? Any information would be great! Thanks.

Okay, so I have never worked in a correctional facility but I did do a one day orientation at the twin towers during my Public Health clinical.

The responsibilities are very similar to what you would find in a regular hospital, if you work in the hospital section. If you work in the clinic, you will see clients that need treatments after a minor cut from a fight, etc. I personally thought it was scary!!! But thats just me. We were told the prisoners are very polite and kind to the nurses because they don't feel threatned by them. However, you will always have a guard with you during any interaction with the prisoners (for obvious reasons). Anywho, I think there is a forum on correctional nursing if you check the nursing specialties tab.

Thanks a bunch. Yeah, I didn't know there was a correctional forum until after I made the post. I found some interesting info on there. Thanks.
