Can't believe what I heard!

I was out at a restaurant with some friends tonight, and I'm not sure if the man at the next table over heard me mention nursing or if it is irony, but I overheard this comment...

"I think nurses are the most arrogant group of people..."

It seemed like he was having a discussion with his daughter about her future career plans maybe? I don't know but that is the first time I've heard that, and it angered me! Any similar experiences?

If he thinks nurses are the most arrogant group of people he must not get out much. I've never heard anyone else say that.

arrogant?

heck, no.

dontcha know- we're demure, humble and holy. :saint:

i think a hefty dose of arrogance, would likely get us a heck of a lot further in the profession.

we need some *bawls*.

I'd love to know what his profession is!!

That would almost be laughable if the guy didn't appear to be having a serious discussion.

I paused to wonder though if the nurses he has had dealings with appear arrogant because they have had to deal with him?

I respectfully disagree with his statement although I have met a few arrogant nurses. However, I think every profession has a certain amount of pride in their knowledge and experience and I am sure that nurses have that too. But, I would certainly not place our level of pride any higher than any other profession. (And certainly NOT over medicine! I can't think of a more arrogant profession than physicians!)

To quote the: Australian Pocket Oxford Dictionary; ........

Arrogant: overbearing; presumptious; ~ance, n.; ~ate v.t. claim unduly (thing to oneself); attribute unjustly (to another); ~a'tion n. [L (rogo ask)]

Yep, I've worked with many of the above during my career!

However, that does not mean all nurses are arrogant.

And, it's all of the above definition to generalise all nurses as such.

Most likely a person who worked in an all his life, never had to throw out a pair of show cause they were soaked with blood.

Has he met any doctors?
