Canadian rpn not qualified to work as lpn in illinois

Published

I need help, I recently moved here from Canada (as a Registered Practical Nurse - RPN since '04),but I've been told by the nursing board in Illinois that I'm not qualified to write the board exam here. I've been directed to take some nursing courses which I've already taken and passed in Canada. I've contacted the school I graduated from, but they are dragging their feet while I continue to work my life away here as a CNA. Please. I need help and advice from somebody, anybody.........

Specializes in SRNA.

If the nursing board determines that your preparation as an LPN wasn't satisfied by your training as a RPN, you'll have to take their suggestions on how to satisfy those requirements. They're your gatekeeper to an approval to take the NCLEX-PN.

Thanks, got it.
