Hi I am a Canadian RN about to marry an Aussie who's work visa may not be renewed as a result we are looking at moving to Aus. Which is a very confusing process. I don't know whether it's easier/better to try to go through a recruitment agency, and if so does anyone know some repuitable ones? Or is it better/easier for me to get a partner visa as sponsered by my future husband? This is a very confusing and expensive decision, espcially since I am only a year out of school. Luckly however I did find work right after graduation and now have experience in Mental health, acute medical, continuing care (geriatrics) and now am currently working with Corrections Canada in an Institution. So I am hoping at the very least that I am highly employable/desirable considering only being one year out but I don't know....? Any help/advice would be highly appreciated.
Sincerly

If you have at least 18 months experience, just contact the hospitals directly. If they want to hire you, they will guide you through the process. Years ago, when times were good, my friend was recruited in TO by a Melbourne hospital. She had 1 year of experience, and is now a permanent resident of Australia, 7 years later. You could also try an agency, but I would go through the places you want to work first.

What area of Australia will you be living in? I can give you some hospital contact details if you like. Also, what area of nursing would you like to work in?

I work in mental health and we have a lot of overseas trained nurses, who all got their jobs with us before they moved over here by applying online and having phone interviews. If you have a look on the government health websites (http://www.health.qld.gov.au/workforus/default.asp is the QLD link) all of the nursing positions are advertised on there...
Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!
