Canadian employment conditions

Published

Hello!

I am nurse working in the UK aiming to immigrate with my wife who got a job in Toronto Ontario. She's hoping to start late this year.

Looking at some of the thread it seems like there is still massive shortage of jobs in Canada especially in the great Toronto area. The only thing that confuses me is since I have subscribed with jobalerts@workingincanada. I have been bombarded by e-mails about available jobs in Canada.

Can anybody tell me the employment condition there please...

Regards.

Unless highly specialized (OR, ICU, NICU) it's going to be hard.

Have you started your registration process yet with the provincial college? Until you get that sorted you will find it hard getting past first base unless you have experience that is in high demand. Currently many UK nurses like other IEN have to go through first NNAS then apply to the college once NNAS makes their assessment and then the college will make their assessment before you either get the OK to sit the national exam or have to do some make up courses.

Also does your wife's job meet category for you to get a temp work permit? not all jobs meet category for spouse to get work permit on the back of the other
