CPNRE - January 11th, 2012

Without talking about specific material from the exam of course, discuss how you found the exam? Difficulty level? Did the CPNRE prep manual/predictor test compare to the exam itself?

Also, feel free to post results here, when they arrive of course!

This is also the first writing of the "new" CPNRE. Prior to yesterdays writing, the exam was 8 hours long, divided into 2 booklets, rather than 4 hours and 1 booklet. As far as the content and difficulty level of this exam compared to those prior, I'm not sure if that changed as well.

I personally found the exam to be a bit more difficult than the practice exam in the CPNRE prep guide, as well as the online predictor test. I scored %95-%100 on the predictor tests, which means it concluded I have a 95-100 % chance of passing the CPNRE. I found the answers in the prep guide and the predictor test to be fairly obvious, where as on the actual CPNRE, I read a lot of questions, thought I knew the answer before looking at the available choices, but once seeing the options I wasn't so sure anymore.

Through my PN course I averaged a mixture of high 70s and low 80s during finals but I must say, I have no idea how I did on this exam. It's really one of those exams where I either did extremely well, or failed miserably. At least that's how it feels!

I wish everyone the best of luck and I hope we all get that PASS letter in the mail!

Keep us posted & share your thoughts here! :)

Just a suggestion. Try waiting for your result letter before writing this new version off. I did the old one and trust me, two booklets over a full day is no prize.

This is weird. I remember seeing all three dates in December and January.

Hi Fiona. I would rather to write 2 booklets then 1. I actually had more time to go over the questions and found it to be much easier than the new format. This time, they didn't give us a chance to carefully read and double check the answers. Pure hell, believe me;(

Hello everyone,

I also wrote the exam Jan 11 2012, and it was ++brutal! I am currently employed with a temp license at a local hospital in my hometown. My employer recently offered me a full time PERMANENTposition with benefits, housing etc. I felt so awful reading my letter, because I knew there was a big big chance that I bombed my pn exam. I didn't feel condfident at all when I walked out of that exam room, I myself left about approx. 20 unanswered questions, there was just no time. I felt really rushed. I found the exam to be very diffucult, although the prep guide, online predictor tests said I had a 95-100% of passing this exam, I personally think I flunked it real BAD.

A few of my classmates that wrote the exam in Sept 2011 said the exam was similar to the prep guide and predictor test questions. I kinda wish I hadn't missed that deadline last July, and maybe I wouldn't be going through the stresses of waiting.

I was also informed by other nurses that if you were to recieve a small envolope past four weeks, the 5th week mark of writing your pn exam than the chances are that you passed. But if you recieve a BIG envolope letter sized at a 4 week mark, the chances are that you failed, because this is the package that contains material and information on your rewrite, including dates, where you want to write, just like the first inital package you get when you first applied to write. Hope that made sense because I don't think it did. I will post my results and share with you the disappointment of my failure, I'm really hoping to hear something soon, I hate the wait....I wish you guys/gals all the best of luck, maybe they will reconsider the marking scheme as I've read so may others had the same experience of incompleting the exam. Yeh, right, wishful thinking eh.

Does anyone know if there is a survey that we can fill out from the Jan 11 2012 pn examination?

I wonder if that 4 week/5 week thing is true. Now I'll be hoping I don't receive a big envelope next week! haha.

omg, 2-3 weeks or so away. Praying for a miracle.

Hi there.

No, don't believe in this envelope thing. I failed last time and got small envelope with 3 papers in it saying how I did and what areas to focus on, plus all the info if I want to rewrite and stuff. My friend passed and also got a small envelope , with only 1 piece of paper inside.

Don't worry too much about not finishing the exam. Most of the people didn't finish theirs plus there are around 20 experimental questions in it so there is still a huge chance of passing the exam, as long you are within the passing mark, which I hope is low:) I made lot's of mistakes to and not feeling to good about it.

And the survey thing, I think you just have to call or send them an email and tell them you would like to give a feedback about the exam.

for people asking about any type of feedback survey, you can simply email the CNO with your feedback/concerns at [email protected]

They will reply.

Good luck!

I'm a newcomer here in Canada and I was wondering what materials (title and author if possible) i could use to review with nursing code of ethics? i understand there are a lot of (possible) questions basing on psychosocial, ethics/culture. I'm new here and so I feel like i need to read about this area. please help! thank you.
