hello everyone!. I just want ti ask if i take a CNA course can i just work as a part time after completing the course and also is it ok not to work during summer because my husband and i priority now is the kids that we make sure we don't do any work during the summer. my husband has a small business so it is easy for him not to work anytime. Myself i really want to become a CNA and my husband is supporting me on it. It's just that i cannot work fulltime and on a summer. anyhelp?, TIA. ?

Working part time that should not be a problem. Many CNAs have part time jobs. The not working at all over the summer months might be a little bit more of a challenge. I don't think you will find many LTC or rehab places that want you to work for them only during the school months. After all residents need help all year round including summer. Though who knows maybe they can get more students that work for them in the summer and that might work for you and they would be able to work around that. But I can't say I have heard a lot of it.
BUT if I were you I'd look into some home care options. They tend to be able to work with people and their weird schedules and requests more so then anywhere else. They may take you on, it wouldn't hurt to ask.
Hello mvm2 thank you for your reply. Appreciated it so much. I went ro clover park technical school today and they said that i because i was only here for 3 months ( i just migrated here last may of 2014 ) i have to pay the tuition fee of almost ×3 of what the original price which is 1300 dollars. They said the only way i can pay 1300 is if i am already living here for a year. I was so frustrated because i want to take CNA course already instead of wasting time. And who is crazy to pay ×3 of the tuition fee. Anyway i will start calling all those school and training center regarding my case to see if i will be able to enroll even if i am not living here for a year if this issue apply to all. If somebody knows a good CNA training center near Puyallup it would be much appreciated so it is easy for me to have some information on my hand already. Have a good day.
Whatever you do do not pay that much for a CNA class!! Not worth it at all!! Especially looking at what a CNA makes vs over a thousand dollars for a few weeks classes is crazy!!
I know you want to start to work as a CNA, but if you can not find somewhere else that will allow you to take the class then I would wait the year!!!
You said yourself that because of your kids you don't even want to work 3 to 4 months of the year anyway!! Wait the year it will go by fast, then take the CNA course and you will still have plenty of time to find a job and start to work as a CNA. The kids will be a year older and it might be worth the wait.
