Help!!!! I suffer from hyperhidrosis, my hands can get very sweaty especially when I am nervous. I have always wanted to be a nrse, but I am wondering if I can do it with my sweaty hands. Does anyone out there work everday as a nurse with this same problem, do your patients ever complain? I have tried Drysol and it works a little, but was wondering if I should look into a different career path even though this is what I really want to do? Thanks for your advice!

My hands get very sweaty when I am nervous, I learned early on in nursing school that sweaty hands did not go over well when trying to put on sterile gloves, and keep them sterile. It was especially difficult when trying to do a procedure in front of an instructor, YIKES!
I learned to keep a small bottle (sample) of baby powder in my pocket I just rub some on my hands before putting on gloves.
If you want to become a nurse then go for it :)

Make sure you tell occupational health that you must be able to drink water at the nurses station.

im not a nurse, but nursing student and my hands sweat as if i was nervous as a virgin at a prison rodeo and i manage to do it. what really helps is i wash my hands constantly, before i walk in a room and after so after i wash them and dry them off, its SOOO much easier to put gloves on.
and ive found by looking at other peoples hands thatim not the only one with sweaty paws :)

not endorsing, but I had *heard* about Botox for sweaty feet, wonder if that would work for hands? or armpits?

Yeah, I think it probably works. I read somewhere that Beyonce gets Botox injected into her armpits, so she doesn't sweat there...

Drysol works really well for my hubby. I tend to sweat when I get nervous. I researched it and had my PCP put me on PRN Clonidine. Works like a charm!
"Virgin at a prison rodeo"!! I see I'm not the only Golden Girls fan here.... Blanche!!
Thanks for all your support, it's good to know I'm not the only one out there who has sweaty hands. I am going to look into botox and hope it works for me:yeah:!
