Can you transfer ATT between state boards?

Published

Hi

After finding out that international nurses can no longer be issued with a license without a SSN I am looking to find out if you can transfer an ATT to a different state board that does allow licenses to be issued without a SSN.

I had applied to California but now know that without a SSN (I am a UK nurse) I will never be issued a license even if I pass the NCLEX. I have done some research and seen that Colorado are using a SSN affidavit form for applicants without a SSN.

Does anyone know if I can transfer my original application for ATT from California to Colorado? I have been issued my ATT and it is valid until October 2010. Or do you just have to reapply to a new board and go through the whole process & cost again.

I'd be grateful for any advice

Thanks

No you can't, ATT is authorised by the state board of nursing so if going to a new state you will have to meet their requirements and be issued a new ATT. If you have the OK to sit NCLEX then I would suggest you go ahead and sit NCLEX and then arrange to have your results forwarded by CA to the new state you are applying to. They will issue a license (if SSN not required) once they have received everything that is required as a International trained nurse and your NCLEX results.

Also CA for many years have not issued a license without a SSN it is only since retrogression has it been an issue as they destroy your file with no SSN and only in the last month have they said they will no longer accept applications without a SSN

Agree that ATT can't be transferred, you'll have to put in an application to the new state from scratch.
