This is a message for TheCommuter,
I too am a new LVN to RN nurse. I graduated Aug2008. We recently relocated to Keller...what can you tell me about the job market in Fort Worth? Is it hard even if you have LPN experience to get into a nice hospital? Thanks for any helpful info.... :)

The nursing job market is becoming sluggish in the area due to the economy. The vast majority of Fort Worth hospitals do not hire LVNs anymore.
Your best bet is to go for a LTAC hospital such as Kindred or Lifecare. Rehab hospitals such as Global and Regency are options, too. As far as acute care hospitals are concerned, JPS hires LVNs into their clinics. Huguley occasionally hires LVNs, too.
Thanks for the info...I became an RN in Aug 08' . But I do not have a lot of RN experience, since I have not worked much after having our son. Was it easy for you to get an RN job? Also, do you know - is it hard to get on with Baylor as a new RN? Thanks!
Finding a full-time RN job has not been easy for me, unless I accept a full-time gig at one of the many nursing homes in the area.
At the present time, I work part-time weekends at a nursing home and PRN at a small rehab hospital. I have applied to multiple hospitals in and out of the area, received one interview, and did not get the job. I have applied to hospices, home health, MR/DD facilities, and other places with no luck so far.
