Just wondering if it's commonly seen that dissolvable sutures at the superficial epidermis can rapidly cause severe infection, and if so, what kind of wound care would typically be ordered? Are you seeing surgical skin infections cultured for the organism, or are your docs ordering antibx just traditionally used for soft tissue infections without a culture?

What is your nursing opinion on the best course?
