I just got here in the US and i need help on how i can start my application. I visited the texas bon site but i can't seem to get it. If you can share me your experience and step by step procedure you did for your application in texas. It will be very much appreciated. Hope somebody replies to this thread. :)

This is the application form, suggest you read it carefully especailly page 6. You will need CES from CGFNS which takes on average 4 months

Thank you!! I'll check this out!! :) thank you so much!

Hi again!! I paid for my ces using cgfns. So i know that it takes a while for the texas bon to receive my documents. I was wondering if i need to fill up the online application and do the fingerprinting stuff while waiting for my ces to arrive at texas bon? What do you think? I'm a little confused here.

The CES may take up to 4-8 weeks depending on mail. So it's better to process the CES first. You can do the fingerprinting anytime you want.

This is one part that gets confusing to me, it's from the TX international section:

E)All international applicants must provide proof of working in nursing for a period totaling two (2) years (i.e. 24 months) at anytime after graduation from a nursing program.

F) If you have not worked at least two (2) years as a first level, general nurse within the four (4) years preceding the filing of the application, you will not be licensed until you complete a Foreign Educated Nurse (FENS) refresher course consisting of 120 hours of classroom instruction and 120 hours of clinical practice under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The applicant required to take the FENS refresher will be given a six (6) month permit to complete the refresher course.

So does this mean that as a new grad with no nursing experience, one is allowed to take the NCLEX, but until you complete the FENS refresher course with the 120 hours of both classroom AND clinical parts, you will not get your RN license assuming one passes the exam?

So that upon passing the NCLEX, one must then do the FENS within the 6th month period?

That's my understanding also. You nees to take FENS after passing the NCLEX to have your license. Sucks right? I don't have any experience too so i need to take that course also.

Hi there. I'm thankful that I have found this thread. I am wondering how did yours turn out? I am asking because I will be leaving for Texas this year, I am a 2012 graduate, with just 6 - 7 months of experience. I want to take my NCLEX there, at Texas directly. Will you please tell me how did the application procedure, NCLEX Exam, FENS, and the rest go? You will be of great help to me. Thank you very much in advance.
