Can the Registry really charge me $3000 for a facility to buy out my contract?

(I am an LPN temping at an adult day care center. Hoping to become the new director. The staff and the patients, without my prior knowledge, went to the Director of services and requested and encouraged that I become permanent. The feeling is mutual. I already love it there).

They want to charge the facility $3000 or 3500, as well.

The facility is a non-profit organization. And they are going to pursue talking to the administrators of the registry, to work out a deal if they can.

I have a feeling that they would not be able to cover my half if they could not work out a deal.

I was excited that I found exactly what I didn't know I was looking for. However, I am worried and already feel the disappointment.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Or been through this before?

Any help would be appreciated. I've only been in Florida for a year and am not familiar with how it is around here.
