Can I take ANCC boards with an action against my RN license?

I have an action against my RN license that I'm in the process of settling. I have an attorney and we don't expect for me to have any probation. This issue is that I'm graduating now and the case won't be resolved for another few months. Can I go ahead and apply to take ANCC boards or will this action attached to my license cause them to reject me? Or have any other implications?

You may be able to take the certification exam but can you get licensed? Per the ANCC site:

RN License

Hold a current, active RN license in a state or territory of the United States or hold the professional, legally recognized equivalent in another country.

So - if you meet this requirement you should be fine. However, licensure may be another hurdle. I would check with your BON.

It's still active and it won't get suspended. Wondering if anyone else has experience with a situation like this.

Trauma is saying that you really have to look at 2 things:

1. Can you take the ANCC exam....looks like a "yes" according to the ANCC info provided

2. Can you obtain an advanced practice license in the state you are in....to answer that you need to contact your state board of nursing to see if you action will keep them from issuing an advanced practice license

Exactly. Your ability to certify has no correlation on your ability to get licensed. States control that individually.

Will you be able to get credentialed and insured is also a question to consider.
