Can you challenge the boards for EMT?

I know there is a certain point in your LVN program you can challenge the boards for your CNA. Can you do the same for EMT? I am currently in LVN school but am also a CNA/HHA but don't want to work as one. I plan on going for my RN after my LVN and my teacher thinks I would be great in Trauma and I'm thinking she might be right.. I think EMT might be a better fit for me as oppose to CNA in LTC so I can get my feet wet. Can I challenge the board at some point in my LVN program?

Thank you! I was afraid that would be the answer. :(

Probably not, I am a paramedic and you can't do that in the state of Indiana. I assume it would depend of state to state because all states are different but the above statement is correct, prehospital care is waaaay different than what you do. You need to go through the program. Good thing is a basic emt program can be anywhere from 2 weeks to 4 months long depending on where you go through so you could easily obtain your EMT-B.

You can test for emt once you get your rn license. Before that you'll just have to take the course if you want the work experience now.
