Anyone floating around Maine this summer? Just signed up for a local-to-camp Camp Nurse info presentation at a hospital and wondering if I'll see any of you lovely people there :)

I float around Maine all the time, since I live there year round.

But alas, you will not see me there, as I already have my camp job. As a matter of fact, I moved out to my new (to me anyways) cabin this past weekend and have woken up to the sound of water lapping against the shore of the lake outside my cabin for the past 3 mornings.

What camps/areas are you looking at?

This will be my 6th summer at an all-boys camp in the Lakes Region - one of the ponds off Lake Sebago. The "camp nurse" info sessions that hospitals throw to promote their "we're camper friendly" business are usually the week before I arrive since my school year goes later than most of the country. Bridgton Hospital has one June 24. My director said I can go to see if anything interesting is said. Do you ever go to these? It's an hour long and we don't tend to use that hospital as much anymore, so if the day is busy I may not go.

Hm- I've never even heard of such a thing. I guess the hospitals in my area (one of which I used to work at so I think I might have at least heard about it) don't do this.

My camp is a little farther north in the Belgrade Lakes region.

Here is the email related to it. It gets sent to my Camp Director, not me.

I'm going to ask my director if she has ever gotten anything like this. Bridgton is a bit of a commute from my camp, but the Belgrade Lakes region has a ton of summer camps, so it would make sense for one of the local hospitals to do something like this.

Hi LiketheDeathSea-

I'll be there. What camp are you going to be at? I have been to the "tea" at Bridgton Hospital many times. (I don't think they are calling it a tea anymore). It is a week later than usual this year as well. Bridgton Hospital (and Central Maine Medical Family as a whole) is in a huge transition period right now with many providers leaving d/t upper level management issues. It will be interesting to see what they say at the gathering. Typically they give an overview of the hospital services (ER, family practices) and the standing orders and then will have a provider and office manager there for questions...

Often has snacks and freebies (one of my fav mugs :-p)
