Specialties Camp

I haven't received much response about my question about the 5 kids, but here's what I am thinking. Please ad your input. It's getting close to camp time and if the camps are desperate to need a nurse (which now I am geting emails through the roof) wouldn't if behove them (if they have the space of course) to just allow the 5 kids. I am at a point where I really don't care either way.I would love to do this but don't want to break my bank. I guess I just need advice because I honestly don't want to take the time if it won't work. I am on contract and that will be up 5/24. So I need to move on regardless. Background is that my husband and I have seperated and he has made no effort to see the kids so I want to make a special summer for them, but can't go broke either. Ugh! I am really getting stressed these days.

Thank you for any input (even if you have to lay it out straight)

Deb

Some states have a lot of regulation for camps. The state I am in has some guidelines for staff who have their kids at camp, and specifically nurses bringing their kids to camp has been addressed. Another issue might simply be space for your 5 kids. Good luck!

(sorry for the duplicate entry!)

I have 4 kids and this will be my second year at a camp. Last year my youngest had a nanny that the camp hired and the other 3 participated. My next youngest was only 6 and he would come back to the health center at night. They did keep a bed for him in a bunk for rest. It was challenging working b/c the camp was in desperate need of a nurse. I was the only nurse on at night which was usually ok. The kids had a great time. I guess it's a matter of finding a camp with a need and the space for your kids. We are doing it again this year!

Hi Deb,

I think it's great you're doing this so you can give your kids a special summer. From what I have experienced, most camps cover 75% of cost per child. There are exceptions however! My camp pays me a salary and lets my 3 kids go for free. Your best bet is to talk to the camps and explain your situation. I'm sure you'll find one that is willing to make an exception... At least give free camp to 3 or 4 of your 5 kids.

Good luck and keep us posted!
