Hi all!
If you're reading this and you're an OSU Medical Center RN, please don't click out of this thread without at least posting one thought re: your experience at this hospital. (I'm not afraid of sounding desperate...I don't want to become one of those threads that, sadly, receives no replies:wink2:)
I'll be graduating soon and am interested in hearing how you've enjoyed your experience there (or haven't). I plan on going to the hospital to tour and will speak to a Nurse Recruiter but I'm just wanting to gather as many opinions as possible. So:
How long have you worked there?
If you're a new RN, did you go through the internship program and how did you like it?
What unit do you work on?
Are the benefits good?
Please feel free to add any extra info you may have.
I really appreciate everyone helping me out!
Ok, I was afraid this might happen...
I see that people have been viewing the thread but, sadly, no one has replied. So, i'll open the discussion up to anyone, anyone at all that has heard anything about OSU Med Center. Could you please respond and let me know anything re: benefits, the RN internship program, how it is being unionized, new grad pay, etc, etc.
Thanks in advance

I have worked at OSUMC for 14yrs but only for 2 of them as an RN. Yes, you have to pay union dues and they are steep (unless you choose to work at OSUE). New grad pay is similar to all the other Cols. hospitals from what I hear. We have really good benefits including decent health insurance, and retirement options. Continuing education is also a benefit. I know several people who graduated from nursing school when I did and also now work as nurses at OSU. I haven't heard too many complaints about how nurses are treated. I did do the internship which was a good way of test-driving the floors under my specialty heading. Stay on top of the internship people though because you could spend a lot of time waiting for them to contact you, and in reality they may have already sent out acceptance notices -they don't send out rejections...So if you don't hear from them in a decent amount of time, call and ask if they have made their decisions yet. PS, I work in inpatient rehab and love it!

I don't work at OSU now, but I did when I was in nursing school. I have a few friends who were accepted to the internship program this year--I'm pretty sure they have already selected this year's group. From what my friends have said, I don't think they are hiring many (if any at all) new grads this year other than through the internship programs. It's a tough job market here in Columbus right now.
Thanks for your responses...I really appreciate it!
