"Imagine a place where health professions students and teachers who are passionate about improving care can come together in the year’s most powerful and energizing event. That place is the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) National Forum on Quality Improvement in Health Care, taking place December 8-11, 2008, in Nashville, Tennessee. The annual National Forum draws nearly 7,000 health care professionals from around the world in person, and thousands more via satellite broadcast, to participate in a broad array of learning sessions and networking events. More students will be attending this year’s National Forum than ever before, and IHI has planned student-focused events to help make the Forum a more valuable experience."

"Student events include:

  • Compete in the National Forum Clarion Case Study Competition and win prizes
  • Attend sessions designed especially for students by using the "student track" when enrolling
  • Get matched with a mentor who’ll help you get the most out of the National Forum
  • Enter our student posterboard competition - proposals due September 19th

Limited scholarships are available to offset the National Forum conference fees and will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Scholarships are available for the following:

  • Full-time students (100% discount)
  • Part-time students (50% discount)
  • Residents (50% discount)
  • Full-time faculty and deans (50% discount)"

I like how there is no discount for people that are actually working in the trenches. Probably best to keep us away, I guess.

Good point- but I think that's because they may be assuming that nurses are getting reimbursed for the cost of attendance.

So true! When I go to professional conferences, I am often the only person in the room paying her own way. And yes, I ask. I often take a poll!
