West Coast University Spring 2018 BSN

U.S.A. California

Hello, I am starting this thread because I don't see any current threads for the 2018 spring start so I thought I'd make one.

I applied to WCU for the spring 2018 and was wait listed at number 5 and was granted acceptance into the BSN program. Everything has been smooth so far except my financial aid officer. Can't say I'm a fan of hers; anyways, I wanted to see if there were any classmates who would be joining me in their GE classes such as critical reasoning, pathophysiology, first year seminar?

It would be nice to make friends through out this 2 year process.

@jxanne1018 no worries :)! If you need help, I am always here! I like the school so far :)!

Did you have to take some GE classes at west coast too??

And what's general education capstone class?

For the nursing program do you buy all the supplies like the scrubs from the school?

@jxanne1018 I have to take some GEs- I took Anyhropology (counting as cultural pluralism) at my community college, critical reasoning online and First year seminar at west coast, and then even though I have taken stats, I needed to take algebra because I skipped it at my school with the placement test and they don't accept placement tests. So, I am taking intermediate algebra at SCUHS in Whittier. Then August 20 I take capstone and pathophysiology :)! I heard capstone is a research paper or something but I am not sure. That's a great question! Yes tou buy the supplies from the school. I mean I have a littman stethoscope of my own so I didn't get that.

Thank you so much for your advice and feedback FutureNurse2308 and to everyone else. I haven't had a chance to look on here for awhile as ive been so busy. I am will be going to wcu for the Aug cohort. With all the positive feedbacks, it helped me a lot to make the decision to go to wcu. I wont be starting my nursing core until jan. 2019 though. I still have to take the First yr seminar, critical reasoning, Medical ethics and issues, patho, and GE Capstone. I am a little confuse on the Medical Ethics and Issues, is that a prereq they just recently added on? Because it shows before my nursing core classes on my temporary schedule/schedule draft.

for my first term I'll be taking the first year seminar, college mathematics, and critical reasoning. I'm actually nervous about the critical reasoning class.. how was that class for you?

Also, what do we learn in the first year seminar class?

Then for my second term I'll be taking pathophysiology and general education capstone. I'll be starting my core classes in january :D

Hey which campus are you going to be at?

I'm going to go to the OC one :D. On my schedule the medical ethics and issues are in the 8th term.

Hello everyone,

I hope this blog has helped in making your decision in joining the WCU fam. I am sorry that i haven't been on as much because ive been super busy with my term. So, the last time that i was on here i was saying i had a term of GE left and well i finished those and i am now im nursing core. I am actually 75% done with my first term in nursing and will be picking my classes for my 2nd term in nursing which consists of Med surg & pharm. Excited and these first classes have been relatively easy for the most of us. but all is good and hope to see some of you soon!

Hi I just have some questions

So I went to the registration date appointment last Friday July 13th

They gave me my class schedule already for my first term which consist of first year seminar

Critical reasoning and college math

Can I start looking at what books I would need for my classes already? And where and how do I find out what books my professors will want.

Sorry if my wording is weird

Hey no worries I understand what you were asking lol.

So, you can look up west coast university bookstore and it will pop out and it will ask for a campus and term. You pick your campus and the term we're in now which is summer. They don't have the fall books yet. But for first year seminar there's no book.

Thank you!!!

Do you think that all the professors for the critical reasoning classes ask for the same text book?
