UCLA MECN program-thoughts??

U.S.A. California

Hi

I was wondering if any current or former student of UCLA's MECN program can comment about the program? Likes/Dislikes? Worth the costs and the masters degree? How hard was it to get into the program? Did you like your rotations and clinicals, professors, etc? Were you able to find a job after graduating without issue? Any information appreciated!

Don't bother applying unless you have years of hospital experience, a 4.0 GPA and you should be under 30 as well, because they discriminate against older applicants. I would suggest choosing another school... They are unpleasant to deal with.

Hi danceluver! I saw your post on another thread and I'm the glad that the only response you got on this post didn't discourage you from applying. It was probably made by a bitter person who probably got rejected because his or her fantastic personality showed through his or her application. I have very limited hospital experience (a few months in college), a 3.1 GPA, and 30 years old. My cohort is very diverse, with at least 50% being 30 years old or older. We even have a gentleman who's around 65 years old. About 15 percent of my class is male. The recruitment and admission staff are super nice. I remember constantly bombarding them with emails during the application process, and they always responded politely and in a timely manner. I just began my second quarter in the program and I'm still thrilled to be part of this program. The curriculum is very intense, challenging, and stressful, but you'll have a very supportive staff and classmates to help you along the way. Good luck on your application, and PM me if you have any question!

Dear ADEcstatic,

I saw your post and just joined this community to learn more about UCLA MECN program.

Yesterday, I was accepted into the program. I was particularly interested in general daily schedule of what to expect.. How your weekly schedule goes, what are the typical class hours, how often is the clinical rotation, etc.. Also any advise for me to prepare before the program starts in September? I am thinking of reviewing my physiology and anatomy since I took these courses a year ago. I would really appreciate your help.

Hi lenti22,

Congrats on your acceptance. Unfortunately, I am in the middle of writing my comp exam so I won't be able to respond in detail. I will get back to you after April 4th. :)

Hi ADEcstatic!

I sent you a PM asking about UCLA MECN if you don't mind :)

Hey Gratefulsunshine! I just sent you a PM. It looked kinda funky so lemme know if you didn't get it!

Hi @ADEcstatic and @Gratefulsunshine. I am in the process of applying to UCLA's MECN program this year and was hoping to speak with either of you about your experience. For some reason the site won't let me send DMs. Would you be willing to speak with me? I know it's been some time since you attended but I would be grateful for your perspective. Thanks in advance!
