UCLA MECN FALL 2013

U.S.A. California

Have been looking around and haven't really seen a topic on this yet. This is my dream school/program. I am from Seattle so I am having to get a lot of info from them long-distance instead of going to an information session. Has anyone gone to an information session yet?

Wow @ldytrjn I think you beat everyone in experience hands down (: my experience is limited to volunteering at a hospital for the last year. My GPA for undergrad is 3.74 and I got mostly A's and B's in my prereqs. I am mostly worried about my SOP and letters of rec

Hi everybody :)

Does anyone know if official transcripts are due by Nov. 1st? Or is it just the application that's due? Thank you! ..and I hope this forum picks up steam soon!

Hi everyone! I just applied and I am scared as hell. HAHA. I don't have that much clinical experience as @ldytrjn but I had a lot of volunteer work in and out of the country. Plus, I did take two years of Nursing before. So hopefully that works. My GPA is about average but I got A's on most of my prereqs. As of now, I'm hoping that my personal statement gets me through. :) Does anyone know if the recommenders need to submit the forms by Nov 1st as well?

So I just called the Student Affairs office and notified me that the official transcripts are due as soon as possible. They are not specifically due by Nov. 1st but she did say the earlier the better. I'm sorry @akirsten but I didn't ask about the LOR deadline. They're pretty friendly if you just give them a call. :)

THE APPLICATIONS ARE DUE IN A COUPLE DAYS! Has anyone done the Diversity Statement? I know it is optional but I am still working on it. Do you guys know how long it is suppose to be?

I wasn't planning on doing the diversity statement... and I can't find it in this application.

On another note, I've been struggling to keep the personal statement under 7900 characters!

What other programs are you all applying to? I'm applying to CSULA as well.. and that's about it. Hoping for the best from either school. I'd be happy to go to either one.

UCLA is the only school right now for me. So it is make it or break it :[[ I am also applying to CSULB as a back up, but that is just for the BSN. The entry level MSN program will be cut if Prop 30 doesn't pass (which looks likely). Hopefully I get into UCLA.

Thanks @iwtgtla, I'll just call them. :) I didnt answer the diversity statement cos it was optional and I highly doubt that I'll get the scholarship anyway. Haha. Im on the same boat as you @choe. I only applied to UCLA. so hopefully I get in.

@akirsten

After doing some past searches on the forums, I've been reading that the admissions committee won't meet until after the end of the year and that LORs/transcripts can come after the Nov. 1 deadline. Of course, things might have changed. I'll be curious as to what they have to say.

My goodness, it is crunch time isn't it?!!! I guess it's somewhat comforting that I'm not the only one who's scared as hell. This isn't the only one I'm applying to but it's the one that I want the most. My experience might sound like a lot, but I'm worried about the fact that I retook my prereques (because I was applying to another program that worked on a point system). The biggest problem that I am having with my personal statement is trying to figure out an answer for why I chose UCLA other than the location. I heard that we won't be able to get a decision until March!!! I'm not sure which is worse, having to wait to hear about this program or hearing back from another program in Seattle in the 3rd week of December (Happy Holidays, right? :/) Does anyone know what to do about the GRE section? I thought that wasn't required but it's on the application.

GRE and writing sample sections don't have to be filled in.

The waiting is always the hard part!
