Just wanted to find out if anyone out there has applied to the new program at WC. I called them and their November, 2008 session is already booked. Next term starts in February, 2009.....so i'm curious to find out how the $$$ is going to affect them if at all. Was it easy to get financial aid and loans, especially how the economy is?? :typing

Specializes in TELEMETRY.

the price is 105,000 It is really expensive... but it way pay off in the end!!

Does the program include all the prerequisites?

yup everything! thats why it is so expensice. In my opinion it worth it to get rid of all the BS you have to go through a regular community college. Unfortunaltely I went through the community college system, I was on a waiting list for four years, finally decided to get my LVN through a private school, zipped through it quickly, passed my boards, and now I am attending the LVN to ADN program.I started before they offered the straight BSN, I wish they would have had that program when I came out of High school. If you have the time to get your BSN through regular routes and your grades are outstanding then regular school is good for you, but if your in a hurry and want to get it out of the way and move on with your life then go this rought. GOOD LUCK!! :)

Here's what I know.

Cost of whole program- $116K (books, supplies, uniforms, tuition, clinicals)

Length of time- 3 years

No LVN or RN license required

Prereqs, clinicals included in the 3 year program

Financing is relatively still easy but need a cosigner (one with a high credit score and deeper pockets = better APR)

Books and supplies are purchased online with a voucher

It is the only program that takes you in without prereqs

10 week sessions/ 2-3 classes each

1 semester is 20 weeks and is split into 2- 10 week sessions

Need to go to information session, take the entrance HESI exam, pass with 80% or higher

Here's what I heard from a councilor at WCU.

The CCNE will be visiting WCU in April to review for Accreditation. It is already accredited by ACICS and is approved by BRN.

I wouldn't recommend going to that school unless you have the money, money that can back you up(family, financial aid, grants, whatever), and if you seriously have no patience in getting your bsn.

I almost enrolled myself to the BSN program at West Coast in Ontario. I had all pre-reqs except 3 more that i needed to complete for them and they lowered my cost to 100K. Which was still intimidating because i couldnt get any financial aid. The Rep that helped me out was really pushy and told me lies like i was going to be making 75 to 85 bucks an hour once i graduate and when i told her that i wanted to do lvn first, she made it seem like west coast was the only school to have the lvn-rn bridge. Also, 2 of my friends that recently graduated from WCU told me to go a different route: LVN(private) then LVN-RNorBSN at Cal State or CC."Save a lot more money this way! but takes a little longer" Soooo If you want to be stuck in debt for the next 5-10years then go to West Coast.

Is there anyone out there who is going to start this program this coming Monday, February 1st, 2010? No one from the school has told me what the schedule is yet. We start the BSN nursing program in 4 days and I do not know what to tell my employer. Is there anyone out there who is going and knows the schedule?

I would call the school in the morning I have no idea why you would not have your schedule for next week yet. I attend at the OC campus ... It is impossible for someone else to tell you what your schedule is - the labs vary as well as what classes you would take depending on what credits/classes you are transferring.

Best of luck!

Thank you. I just was called by the representative at the school telling me that my schedule has just been emailed to me. Just in the nick of time, don't you think. Thanks again.

You are welcome! Good luck. Did you register late? I have not had an issue getting my schedule late - maybe a week late (they say you will have it 4 weeks prior to the next term).

Best of luck~

Hey Im going to start this november 2010. I have a meeting to go to this coming week, but yes Ill be starting. They actually pick your class schedule for you. Didnt you remember them telling you that in the pre meeting. Least that is what I remember. Keep me posted as to what you may hear. Im still trying to figure out this website, but yeah I think they pick it all for you. If you dont mind me asking, what are you going to spend there?

Hi Newbetonursing. Have you took the HESI entrance exam at the Ontario building? If so, how was it? I'll be taking the entrance exam on Aug. 2. I'm planning to start the program in January of 2011. I went to the info session back in June. They did mention that they pick your classes for you. They never mention the price unless you asked. The packet they gave me states the program is $126,000. If you hear different, please let me know.
