Spring 2012 Samuel Merritt ABSN applicants

U.S.A. California

Just submitted my application today and was wondering if anyone else is with me for the stressful wait. I applied for the Sacramento Campus

i submitted mine about 2 weeks ago. Emailed ------ the other day and she said I'll hear back some time in mid Sept. I applied for the San Mateo campus.

Hi

Mid September is definitely better than November. Honestly, I hope it comes as soon as possible as I have signed up for two classes that are co-requisites for another program and I would rather not take them Fall semester if I don't have to. Also, the waiting will be so stressful...

I applied to Sacramento too! I agree, the wait is stressful! My heart pounds just thinking about it, but nothing else we can do about it. :crying2: I was wondering how did you guys do on your TEAS and grades? At least for ABSN there are no interviews. Sigh, nervous!

Hi all!

I just applied for Sac ABSN as well. No doubt, it' going to be a long wait. Good luck everyone!!

Hey maia99 and heartfelttouch, glad you are here for the long wait:D

I was wondering how did you guys do on your TEAS and grades?

My science GPA is 4.0 and my last 60 was 3.87. As for the TEAS, I took version V a few weeks ago. I got a composite of 90.7%, Reading 88.7%, Math 96.7%, Science 87.5%, and English 93.3%. Honestly, from what I can gather from reading old threads here, there is no one indicator that predicts who will get in to this program

How about you guys?

Hones

I just applied too, and after a whirlwind couple of years, I can't believe the day finally came! It's a little unnerving considering all of the hard work we've had to put into pre-reqs. I'm originally from the Bay Area but moved up to Placerville 2 years ago and was thrilled to learn that Samuel Merritt had a campus in Sac.

Cateisgreat - thanks for posting your stats - if you're like me you've already checked out the stats posted on Merritt's website and have been trying to figure out if being "above the average" will help get you in. I have a 3.79 GPA on my last 60 and a 92.2% composite TEAS score, but who knows, right!!?? Just wondering if anybody else is an "older" student? I'm 36 and always had it in the back of my mind that I wanted to be a nurse, but life sort of took me in a different direction. Also, did anyone else also apply to the ELMSN program? At any rate, good luck everyone!!

Hi Bizaleth,

There was a thread started a couple of weeks ago for the ELMSN in Sac:

https://allnurses.com/ca-nursing-programs/samuel-merritt-elmsn-582573.html

I applied to FNP and CM but not ABSN. As for older, I'm 37 and have noticed applicants in prior application periods in their thirties and (hopefully) feeling young :)

Good luck to everyone!

Bizaleth,

I'm in Placerville too. I moved here 3 years ago.

With any luck, in 6 months we'll be able to carpool in together.

I hear you about the whirlwind, I've been trapped in one since I moved here too.

I applied to the ELMSN last year and ended up on the waitlist. I have a 4.0 on my last 60, and a 90.2 TEAS composite. I've been volunteering at Marshall Medical Center for the last 14 months, just to make sure that this was something I really wanted to do. I didn't apply to ABSN last year because I had a hard time getting into a Pathophysiology class that we could afford. I finally got that under my belt, and so this year, I'm just going for ABSN. After this last year, I don't think our family is up to a 3 1/2 year program. I'll take my time and get there when I'm ready.

Also, I'm 43 with 2 youngish kids, they're 6 and 9.

Good luck to you.

This is what I observed about those that got into Fall cohort:

>3.7 GPA for last 60

>TEAS 81% (big range here as I saw 81-low 90s across the board)

>3.8 for sciences

Volunteer hospital time or clinical time

2nd language

I saw one person with exceptional numbers comparable to the few of you who posted your numbers on this thread, and she ended up on the waiting list. I suspect it was either her letters of recommendation or her essays that possibly hurt her. On the flipside, another female got in with 3.4 GPA for her last 60. She was one of the first people to be called.

Anyway, I hope this helps as I know how stressful this process could be. Good luck to everyone.
