San Francisco State University (SFSU) BSN Program

U.S.A. California

Has anyone gotten a response from the SFSU BSN Program? I emailed someone a while ago and they said it would be rolling around sometime between April and May (how vague :zzzzz). I am just a nervous wreck as everyone else waiting for their ACCEPTANCES (positive thinking!). I think I'm going insane checking the website once or twice a day :banghead:. I've read somewhere around this forum that people have already been admitted or denied into the MSN program and the Accelerated BSN @ the Canada branch, but I applied at the main campus.

Here's hoping and praying... :nurse:

my friend spoke with the nursing office. apparently this year the competition was SO fierce that their range of accepted GPAs was 3.98 to 4.0!!! they turned away 3.95's *and* 4.0s!!

Well, they are looking at other things too because i didn't have that high of a GPA and i got in. My GPA is around 3.7, 3.8 .....i don't speak another language, but i do have lots of clinical experience.

So, don't give up yet!

Sorry, wrong program! I tried to edit my post, but cant find the "edit" button.

i got denied haha.

kind of expected it and just applied for fun (telling myself this so i dont go insane..it would have been nice to move back to the city [love S.F.]).

3.9 prereqs and 2nd language proficiency just isnt enough i guess.

I guess we're all in this together! I don't feel so bad, then.

I applied to the BSN program, I have a 4.0 GPA in prereq's, have 2nd language (Spanish), and two volunteer letters (one from a hospital, one from a free clinic). and my application was denied. I honestly don't know what else I could have done to get in. However, by the time I reapply, I'll have another year of the volunteer experience under my belt and I've picked up more responsibility at the clinic...

I'd like to hear from others, from those that got in (what's the secret?) and others in a similar sitch as me who were rejected.

oh wow! i can't believe it :-( what in the world is the basis of their choices? i mean you have a perfect application packet.

what can you say about a 4.0? too much?

spanish: isn't that the order of day in california?

you have recommendations that would work for a free clinic:-serves as your hospital volunteer and free clinic as in public...

honestly, after reading your message, i can only say i don't know where i stand...i would think you would be an automatic in...

sounds like you have resolved to reapply! may i ask, how old you are? did you apply elsewhere?

i didn't get any mail from anyone today... i guess mine is delayed in the mail...ugh! the waiting is not a pretty thing.

to be honest, i dont think there is a secret. it's just really more applicants than there are spaces.

The competition is freaking ridiculous. You all are so smart, I'm jealous x] I only had a 3.7 GPA so my application was probably a joke...haha. Anywho, for me, it's time to start planning to apply for other schools the Spring semester. I'm going to try to volunteer at a hospital to rack up some experience (I already have foreign language proficiency, so hopefully this addition will make me a well-rounded applicant?). I also applied to CSU East Bay - anyone get any notice yet? I know the website says they will notify people by May 31st, but was wondering if anyone from previous years got anything before then. *sigh* the wait continues...

Good luck again to all! :]

How the hell can you get a 4.0 and get denied? *does not compute!*

Isn't that crazy? But you again you have to understand a perfect 4.0 on preqs (should also consider cumulative) isn't all that should define success. What was a big shocker to me was the supplements the poster has is what left me Agape!

I was really thinking of applying to SF State until I read this. They'd probably just laugh at my 3.5 :p Like another poster said, I'd like to go to school there just to be back in SF, but I guess I won't have to worry about throwing down $1500 a month for housing there ;)

i say just apply, give yourself every opportunity possible. it is clear that we don't have their formula so we should simply submit and leave it to them. i would apply to expand my chances. sfsu nursing program has solid reputation and they have great passing rates. go for it! you maybe surprised.
